Therapy at Brave Space
What is therapy like at Brave Space for Healing with Rhoni?
At Brave Space, therapy is an active conversation about you—what you're experiencing, what you notice, what you feel, what keeps repeating, and what you want to understand more deeply.
We may move between what's happening in your life now, experiences from the past, your relationships, emotions, and what you notice happening in your body or in the room with me. You don't need to arrive knowing all the answers. Curiosity and a willingness to explore are enough.
Many of these patterns began as ways to survive. In therapy, we can meet them with compassion while gently noticing whether they still support the life you want now.
What We Might Explore
Trauma & Healing
Support for painful or overwhelming experiences, including sexual trauma, religious trauma, relational wounds, and the lasting impact of trauma on your sense of self, safety, and connection.
Relationships & Intimacy
Support for old relationship wounds, difficulty trusting or feeling secure with others, communication struggles, intimacy concerns, sexuality, desire, and patterns that shape how you connect with yourself and others.
Self-Understanding & Growth
Support for high sensitivity, shame, self-worth, identity exploration, emotional overwhelm, and reconnecting with yourself in more honest and meaningful ways.
How Therapy Feels at Brave Space
Therapy is more than techniques or diagnoses. My hope is to create a space where you feel safe enough to become curious about your inner world, understand yourself more deeply, and make meaningful changes in how you live and relate.
❤️ A Place to Be Real
Healing can happen when you feel genuinely seen and cared for in relationship—including the one we build together. You don’t have to perform, hide, or arrive with all the answers. Here, you can speak honestly and become more fully yourself.
✨ Slowing Down to Notice
You may be used to thinking your way through difficult experiences or quickly moving past what you feel. Together, we’ll practice pausing, noticing what’s happening inside, and meeting it with curiosity rather than judgment.
🛡 Your Pace Matters
We’ll move at a supportive pace, with room for gentle challenge. I may invite you to go deeper or try something new, but we’ll pay attention to what feels manageable, slow down when needed, and respect when you say no.
🌿Understanding What Helped You Survive
Together, we’ll get curious about the patterns and protective strategies that once helped you cope—and consider whether they still support the life you want now.
💜 Making Room for All of You
Your emotions carry important messages worthy of care and attention. Together, we’ll practice listening to what they may be telling you and make room for your needs, longings, and authentic self.
You don’t need to know these terms before beginning therapy. What matters is how they help us understand why your responses make sense, how the past may still shape the present, and what can create greater freedom, connection, and choice in your life. I draw from these approaches flexibly based on what feels most helpful to you.
What Shapes Our Work Together
🌸 AEDP
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy
In practice, this means slowing down enough to notice what’s happening emotionally and physically when something important arises. Rather than leaving you alone with painful feelings, I’ll stay engaged as we make sense of them together and create room for something new.
🌿 Attachment Theory
We’ll become curious about what your earliest and most important relationships taught you about closeness, trust, conflict, independence, and asking for what you need. Understanding these expectations can give you more choice in how you connect today.
💙 EFIT
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy
The ways we protect ourselves—pulling away, people-pleasing, going quiet, or feeling overwhelmed—can make connection harder. We’ll slow these moments down, listen for the emotions and needs underneath, and find new ways to connect without losing yourself.
🪞 Relational Psychodynamic Therapy
Past relationships can shape how you see yourself and what you expect from others, often outside your awareness. We’ll notice these patterns in your life and, when helpful, in the relationship between us—giving us a chance to understand and experience them differently.

Relationships & Communication
Desire differences or low desire
Communicating needs and boundaries
Building trust, intimacy, and connection
Identity & Exploration

Feeling more comfortable and present in your sexuality
Sex therapy is talk therapy. Sessions never involve sexual activity, nudity, sexual contact, or physical examination. Sex therapy can offer a supportive space to explore intimacy, desire, sexuality, body image, sexual shame, relationship patterns, and the impact of trauma, religion, culture, or past experiences on your sexual self.
While I am not currently a certified sex therapist, I am actively completing specialized sex therapy training through the Sexual Health Alliance and receive supervision/consultation to support this area of my work.
A Note About Fit
My approach tends to work best for people who are curious about themselves and interested in exploring what lies beneath their emotions, relationships, and recurring patterns. You don’t need to have everything figured out, but therapy with me tends to work best if you’re able and willing to reflect, notice what’s happening emotionally and physically, and explore what’s beneath the surface.
I may be less well-suited to you if you prefer highly structured, therapist-led sessions centered on advice, worksheets, homework, or immediate solutions. My work is thoughtful and exploratory and may include slowing down or allowing some silence to notice what is happening beneath the surface.
If another therapeutic style or provider would better meet your needs, I’ll do my best to help you identify appropriate next steps.
Practice Transparency
As a neurodivergent clinician, I use a HIPAA-compliant AI documentation tool as an accessibility support for organizing information and writing clinical notes. I review, edit, and finalize all notes myself; AI does not replace my clinical judgment, attention, or care. AI-supported documentation is part of my standard practice, and I do not offer an AI-free documentation option. If you are not comfortable with AI being used in this way, we may not be the right fit, and I will do my best to offer referrals or appropriate next steps.
